About Dr. Atkinson

Dr. Roscoe D. Atkinson graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in 1985 where he received a BS in Zoology. Among his many accomplishments was a thesis on his original research in ion flow. As a University of Southern California medical student he excelled, as a Dean's scholar and received the ARCS (Achievements Rewards for College Scientists) Scholarship Award and the E.R. Squibb Award for student research. After completing his medical degree in 1989, Dr. Atkinson did his residency in anatomic pathology and neuropathology at the USC-LAC Medical Center.

Since that time he has received more teaching honors and recognitions than can be easily detailed. He is the Assistant Professor of clinical Pathology and Neurology at the USC Keck School of Medicine, and he has held several other academic appointments.

He is an active lecturer at USC and has guest lectured at numerous other institutions. He is board certified in Neuropathology and Anatomic Pathology.

In addition, Dr. Atkinson is a leading pioneer in the development and use of computer and video imaging technologies for pathological and other medical purposes.
